چکیده
Morphological differentiation in the Indian major carp, Labeo catla, Ganga and Narmada rivers was studied using image-based morphometric multivariate analytical techniques. Twenty-three truss-network-based distances connecting 11 anatomical landmarks on fish were measured from digital images of specimens collected seven stations, four which set up along river Ganga, other three stations Narmada. For analysis, five considered, as samples River pooled treated a composite sample (Narmada). The analysis variance showed evidence for significant differences between those rivers. subsequent Linear Discriminant Analysis explained 86% variability by two discriminant functions. This fact suggested existence morphometrically different populations species Ganga. These predominantly distributed middle stretch (Ganga_Middle), Bhagirathi-Hooghly stretch, Padma are isolated barrage that does not allow free bidirectional movement fish. important discriminating characteristics traits head caudal region well body depth relatively narrower angles snout profiles lower depths stretches led to more pointed snouts slenderer bodies. can be used an environmental predictor that, turn, would use developing effective management strategies stock concern.

Genetic variation of wild and hatchery populations of the catla Indian major carp (Catla catla Hamilton 1822: Cypriniformes, Cyprinidae) revealed by RAPD markers
Genetic variation is a key component for improving a stock through selective breeding programs. Randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to assess genetic variation in three wild population of the catla carp (Catla catla Hamilton 1822) in the Halda, Jamuna and Padma rivers and one hatchery population in Bangladesh. Five decamer random primers were used to amplify RAPD markers...
متن کاملIdentification and characterization of chickenII - GnRH ( cII - GnRH ) gene of Catla catla ( Hamilton , 1822 )
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is a neuropeptide hormone responsible for the release of luteinizing hormone (Lh) and follicle-stimulating hormone (Fsh) from the anterior pituitary gland . GnRH have been identified and characterized from the brain of C. catla. A cDNA fragment of 202bp was amplified and GnRH variant has been identified in the form chicken-II-type gonadotropin-releasing hor...
متن کاملParasitic Study of Indian Major Carp Catla catla (Hamilton, 1822) in Selected Districts of West Bengal, India
The present work was conducted to isolate and identify different parasites from Indian Major Carp (IMC) Catla catla. During the study period the severity of infection and Parasitic Frequency Index (PFI, %) were also estimated in terms of months, seasons and length groups of fishes. For the investigative purpose different districts of West Bengal were selected considering the potential of fisher...
متن کاملHistopathological Effects of Bisphenol-a on Liver, Kidneys and Gills of Indian Major Carp, Catla Catla (hamilton, 1822)
Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a xenoestrogen that mimics the action of natural estrogen, estradiol-17β, and can disrupt the endocrine system. Present study was designed to investigate histopathological effects of BPA on some vital organs of major carp, Catla catla. Fish were exposed to various sub-lethal concentrations (1 to 4 ppm) of BPA in a semi-static system for 15 days. After the stipulated time, l...
